Kalmar Konstmusuem, Sweden
from 11h00 to 17h00
Kalmar konstmuseum is a regional museum for art, located in the
city of Kalmar, Sweden. When the museum reopened in 2008, this was also
the starting point for an ambition to become a nationally important
museum of contemporary art, based in a region with an undisputed role in
swedish and baltic history – in war as in peace.
This geographical role is now clearly visible in the exhibition profile, where regional and national artists often are juxtaposed with art from countries in the baltic area, as well as other countries with who Sweden has had a more or less peaceful exchange of culture throughout the centuries.
The museum consistently exchanges exhibitions as well as curator and artist contacts between Sweden and countries like Poland, Germany and Russia. As of late, the museum has contributed actively in the formation of network platforms between artists in countries such as Belarus, Georgia and Moldavia.
Artists: Kristoffer Borgli, Enno Hallek, Andreas Meinich, Iiu Susiraja, Pilvi Takala & Gernot Wieland
